It’s finally happening! After launching the Hilux recently, Toyota now looks all set to bring in the latest generation of the Land Cruiser in India! The Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 was unveiled internationally last year, alongside celebrations of the SUV’s 70th anniversary. It is said that dealers were accepting bookings of the V6 diesel variant since February 2022 for an undisclosed amount. However, that seems to have changed due to the ongoing chip shortage which has impacted production and caused multiple issues around the world.

The V6 twin-turbo diesel puts out 304bhp and a mammoth 700Nm of torque!

The Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is underpinned by the new GA-F platform, which sees the reduction of 200kg over the outgoing model. The Japanese car maker is offering the LC300 with two powertrain options globally — a 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol producing 409bhp and 650Nm of torque, and a 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel which puts out 304bhp and a mammoth 700Nm of torque! Both these powertrains are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. We expect Toyota to launch the Land Cruiser LC300 with the V6 diesel first, while the petrol could come in sometime later. Toyota is also said to offer a naturally-aspirated V6 petrol paired to a six-speed automatic transmission in some countries. Whether that will reach Indian shores remains unknown for now.

14 years later, the LC300 will replace the LC200 globally

Some of the features available on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 include memory function for the driver seat, interior settings, and display, along with a smart tailgate, start-stop button with fingerprint sensor, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, first and second row ventilated seats, camera washers, cooled glovebox, six driving modes, and an air purifier among others. Additionally, it also receives an electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (e-KDSS) which uses electronically controlled hydraulics within the suspension that constantly monitors the terrain and adjusts the suspension accordingly. Should the need arise, the system can even disconnect the anti-roll bars on its own.

The Land Cruiser LC300 also packs in safety features such as oncoming pedestrian and traffic alert, emergency steering assist, cruise control, a blind spot monitor.

The Land Cruiser LC300 is expected to reach Indian shores in August this year

Bookings for the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 have been closed for now. However, the SUV is expected to reach Indian shores before the Lexus LX 600 that has also been confirmed for launch. When it does get launched, we expect the pricing to nudge upwards of Rs 1.5 crore. Click here to read about the Land Cruiser’s 70 successful years.
