Team Evo India

It was a hectic week with new launches almost every day. Let’s dive into it.

Harley-Davidson X440

It is the first bike to take birth from the Hero and H-D partnership and was designed keeping the Indian audience in mind. It gets a 440cc single-cyl engine with 27bhp and 38Nm of torque but misses out on a 4-valve head. It comes in three variants and competes with other bikes in the modern-classic style, which the Royal Enfield leads.

Triumph Speed 400

Triumph is another brand that has joined hands with an Indian brand, and this time it's Bajaj. Their first two offerings are the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X. The bikes share the single-cylinder 398cc engine producing 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm of torque. We found it to be a very good bike with top-notch quality and an impressive fit and finish. The Speed 400 is the roadster variant whereas the Scrambler 400X is more suited for offroad activities. It gets a larger front wheel, longer travel suspension and a taller seat among other upgrades.

Triumph Speed 400: Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), (Rs 2.23 lakh for the first 10,000 customers)

Kia Seltos facelift

After over four years of being in the market, the Kia Seltos has gotten a facelift. It gets similar changes that you would expect from a facelift like redesigned bumpers, lights, DRLs and grille. On the inside, you get a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster and more importantly ADAS. In terms of the engine options, you can now get a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine which is seen in several Hyundai products like the Alcazar, the Verna and the Creta

Maruti Suzuki Invicto

Another car from the Maruti-Toyota partnership is here, and this time it's the rebadged version of the Innova HyCross. The Invicto, as it is named is the most premium car from the Maruti Suzuki brand and will be sold solely through the Nexa outlets. There are some changes though, the Invicto will only get the petrol-hybrid version of the Innova and misses out on the ottoman seats and ADAS features that are found on the Innova HyCross. Additionally, the Invicto comes with subtle styling changes on the outside as well as the inside.

Ferrari SF90 XX

Earlier, the XX badge was reserved for special track-only models. But now it has changed, as Ferrari has introduced two new models based on the SF90 – the SF90 Stradale and Spider. Ferrari has announced that it will only produce 599 models of the convertible and 799 models of the coupe. It features the same 4-litre twin-turbo V8 from the SF90 but is tuned to produce more power at 786bhp and 804Nm of torque. Because of the extra power and massive increase in the downforce, it now gets to 100kmph faster in 2.3 seconds compared to 2.5 of the standard SF90. But the increased downforce also means that it now offers a lower top speed of 320kmph.

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale: Rs 6.9 crore (€770,000)

Ferrari SF90 XX Spider: Rs 7.6 crore (€850,000)

Both prices are excluding Indian taxes and duties.

Ducati also offers an option of the Akrapovic exhaust which will bump up the power to 237bhp with the special oil developed with Shell which is said to reduce friction. There are other changes in terms of aero and cooling as well.

The M 1000 RR is the track-focused street-legal version of the S 1000 RR, and like the Ducati, it also comes with improved aero compared to the standard model. The M 1000 RR makes the same 209bhp and 1133Nm of torque as the standard S 1000 RR but BMW has fitted with lot more carbonfibre to further improve performance. National 24-hour two-wheeler speed endurance record

3657.92km is the new national 24-hour two-wheeler speed endurance record. And what makes it more significant is that it was broken on the 310cc TVS Apache RR 310 with Apollo Alpha H1 tyres. The evo India team along with several other riders rode these bikes for 24 hours at full throttle showcasing the talent and capabilities of both Indian riders as well as Indian-made machines.

We covered 3657.92km in 24 hours.
