Keen readers of evo India will remember that the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series was the star of our March 2021 cover. Nearly two years after its international debut, the AMG GT Black Series has finally been launched in India, with prices starting from Rs 5.50 crore. However, if you’re deciding to get in touch with your CA, save yourselves the effort because this is a highly-exclusive supercar with just two units allocated for India! Yes, just two! Supercar enthusiast Boopesh Reddy is the first lucky customer to receive his keys of the AMG GT Black Series from Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Mercedes-AMG has made use of aerodynamic measures to increase downforce and keep air resistance low. There is a manually-adjustable front splitter with two settings — Street and Race. The bonnet is made out of carbonfibre and features two large air outlets to ensure proper cooling. The front wings and roof are made out of carbonfibre as well. At the rear, you get a new diffuser, twin rounded tailpipes, side wheel arch ventilation, and two carbonfibre aerofoil blades which are manually adjustable.

Under the hood of this monster lies the most powerful V8 from Affalterbach!

Under the hood of the AMG GT Black Series lies the most powerful V8 from Affalterbach — a 4-litre twin-turbo flat crankshaft V8 powertrain which is paired to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, putting out 720bhp at 6700-6900rpm and 800Nm of torque at 2000-6000rpm! No surprise then, that it reaches triple digits in a mere 3.2 seconds, maxing out at a top speed of 325kmph. It sits on a 19-inch front and 20-inch rear tyre setup, flaunting AMG 10-spoke forged alloys finished in a shade of Matt Black, including a rim flange high-sheen finish. The AMG GT Black Series also gets race start function, along with traction control, adaptive adjustable damping, manually-adjustable camber and roll-bars on both axles, and high-performance ceramic braking system with black calipers among others.

The interiors are upholstered in a combination of Nappa leather and black micro fibre with contrast orange stitching and matt black carbonfibre trims, keeping its extra-mad nature in mind. It gets AMG carbonfibre lightweight bucket seats as standard, and you can also opt for AMG Performance seats. There is also an AMG steering wheel upholstered in micro fibre.

Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said “We are thrilled to deliver the first-ever AMG GT Black Series in India, an automotive rarity in the world of performance motoring and the closest proximity to motor racing. The delivery of the AMG GT Black Series strongly emphasizes our commitment towards introducing the most desirable and exclusive products from our global portfolio for performance purists in India. There was an overwhelming response from the AMG customers for the AMG GT Black Series super car since its global debut, and we will deliver two units of this exclusive masterpiece in India based on our allocations. The second unit of the Black Series will be delivered to our customer next month.”
