Mahindra has been regularly updating their portfolio in recent times and this time plans to roll out the updated version of XUV 300. This update however, was necessitated by the incoming BS6 emission norms. The BS6 XUV 300 goes under the knife for a minor cosmetic update and a change in transmission options. Mahindra has bid adieu to the W8 AMT variant and the AMT gearbox will now be only offered with the W6 and W8(O) variants. The prices for the BS6 XUV 300 remain the same as the previous-gen BS4 models.

Under the hood, the BS6 compliant diesel engine of XUV 300 comes with a power output of 115bhp producing a peak torque of 300Nm which is mated to a 6-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. Mahindra had already updated the XUV300 with a BS6 petrol update at the Auto Expo 2020 and also unveiled the XUV 300 Sportz variant which comes with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that churns out 130bhp and 230Nm of torque, much more than the outgoing turbo-petrol engine's 110bhp. The engine in the Sportz variant is from the family of mStallion engines. The new and updated variants were expected to go on sale by April 2020 but will get delayed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

The XUV 300 will go up against the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon and the soon to be launched Kia Sonet.
