India’s only Formula E racing team, Mahindra Racing has announced that its Gen 3 Formula E race car, the M9Electro will make its debut at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will be held between June 23 to 26 at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. The M9Electro has completed its first testing phase successfully and will be running the Goodwood Hill Climb just a week after its first test. The race car will be piloted by ex-F1 driver Nick Heidfeld.

This isn’t Mahindra Racing’s first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, having made its debut back in 2017 with the M4Electro. The Gen 3 race car, the M9Electro, is said to be 60kg lighter than its predecessor, the M7Electro, while also adding an extra 134bhp and reaching a top speed of 321kmph. For context, the M7Electro puts out 375bhp and maxes out at 280kmph.

Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal and CEO, Mahindra Racing, said “It is a proud moment for us to take this car to Goodwood just a week after its first test. This is testament to the hard work, determination and passion of the team to always push to achieve what others see as unachievable. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the car make its debut at an iconic event such as Goodwood, representing the whole of Formula E as the series takes a step to its new era in 2023.”
