The fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, which made its debut in early 2021 has finally made its way to Indian shores. Jeep has launched the SUV at Rs 77.5 lakh, and it gets a single turbo-petrol engine option and a five seat layout for the Indian market.

Here's everything you need to know about it:

Jeep Grand Cherokee styling

There's no mistaking the Grand Cherokee to be anything but a Jeep, with its seven-slat grille upfront, butch shoulders and wheel arches. The fifth-gen Grand Cherokee improved upon the previous version with sleeker styling. It boasts slim LED headlights, and large air intakes on the front bumper which also houses the DRLs. It features a distinct belt line that covers the full-length from head lights to taillights. The Grand Cherokee rides on 20-inch alloys and it gets a 215mm ground clearance. At the back, it gets wrap around LED tail lights and a high set number plate area.

A 10.1-inch touchscreen takes centre stage in the new Grand Cherokee's redesigned cabin. The dashboard is upright and houses a 10.25-inch touchscreen on the passenger side and a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster. It features wooden veneer and chrome trim and has a cascading waterfall style centre console. The Grand Cherokee gets a whole host of features including heated and cooled from seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, rear seat entertainment touchscreens, electric seats and even an electric tail gate. Jeep is offering it in only the five-seat guise in India and on the safety front the SUV gets ADAS, ABS, Traction Control, 8 airbags and even a 360-degree camera system.

Jeep Grand Cherokee engine

The fifth-gen Grand Cherokee is offered with a sole 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, unlike before when it was sold with both petrol and oil burner mills. This engine churns out 268bhp and 400Nm of peak power and sends it to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Grand Cherokee features Jeep's Quadra-Trac 4x4 system with various terrain modes, a 215mm ground clearance and 533mm water wading capability.

Jeep Grand Cherokee rivals and price

At Rs 77.5 lakh, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is only two lakh more expensive than before and is brought to India via the CBU route. It rivals the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and the Land Rover Range Rover Velar.
