A major chunk of 2020 has been akin to the long winter from Game of Thrones, with all of us (the townsfolk) locked in, lest we be slain by deadly monsters (the Covid-19) virus. All this has been doubly frustrating for people whose very occupations depend on outdoor activities (i.e. motosport journalists). However, we can finally see the sun peeking out of the clouds, as a calendar with a full plethora of events and the accompanying dates – albeit tentative – has just been revealed!
So without further ado, here is the (prospective) timetable of events, broken down into categories, for your convenience:
Autocross
Dirt track (cars)
Drag racing – Cars
Drag racing – Motorcycles
Circuit racing – Motorcycles
Circuit racing – Cars
Note – We’re especially excited about the Formula Junior Series (October 26-29), as it will be the first race on the newly redesigned Kari Motor Speedway.
Karting
As mentioned earlier, this calendar, despite being exhaustive, still misses out on a few event series, namely the stage rally events for motorcycles (a tentative calendar for the Indian National Rally Championship was announced earlier), as well as the supercross (motorcycle) events. Hence, there may still be a few surprises in store for us motorsport lovers in the days to come.
However, the fact that racing across formats is now just a scant few days from going back on track (literally, in many cases) has us tickled pink. So here’s to an energetic final quarter of 2020, replete with the Thrill Of Driving, Riding and Competing!
