SUVs are a big thing in India, the Hyundai Creta is one of the brand's and the country's best selling SUVs and now Hyundai plans to cater to more customers with the new seven-seater Alcazar, which is based on the Creta.
As expected, the exterior sketch shows us that the Alcazar has grown in length at the rear to accommodate the third row of seats, new styling factors like a more prominent waistline and unique grooves above its wheel arches can also be seen. The Alcazar will feature a slightly tweaked front grille, new alloy wheel designs and a new tailgate with wider wrap-around tail lights to differentiate itself from the Creta. The Alcazar will also get faux skid plates to make it look more rugged. The roofline is also more upright on the Alcazar, to give more headroom to passengers in the third row.
On the inside, the Alcazar will get an option to be had with captain seats for the second row with a floor mounted centre console in the six-seater variant. The floor mounted centre console will feature a wireless charging pad and cup holders with storage space down below and the third row of seats are bound to get AC vents and charging points too. Of course, there should also be a standard bench setup for the middle row available which will give the Alcazar its seven-seater capacity. The interior layout at the front will remain similar to that on the Creta and the Alcazar is expected to get similar equipment like a panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake, wireless charging and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Alcazar is expected to get variants to suit all customer preferences with various choices in petrol and diesel engines along with manual and an array of automatic transmissions, similar to what the Creta has, this could make it more appealing to buyers over rivals like the new Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500.
What Hyundai hasn’t teased is the pricing, but we don’t expect the Alcazar to carry a much more premium price tag than the Creta. In fact, there could even be some overlap in the prices to lure customers toward Alcazar. We won’t have to wait too long to find out though because the Alcazar's reveal is scheduled for the first week of April and pricing details should arrive soon after.
