The Hyundai Exter, an eagerly anticipated micro-SUV, has finally been revealed. The Exter's exterior design and powertrain details have been revealed by the Korean manufacturer. The car can now be booked online or at Hyundai dealerships, with prices starting at ₹11,000. This micro-SUV is going to be the most reasonably priced SUV that the manufacturer sells in India.

Hyundai Exter design

The Hyundai Exter micro-SUV will be offered in six monotone and three dual-tone exterior colours, including a Cosmic Blue and a Ranger Khaki, which will be exclusive to the Exter. The car will be offered in five variants – EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect. The full feature list has not been revealed yet.

Talking about the exterior, the front end of the car incorporates a split-headlight design with the H-shaped LED DRLs and the projector headlamps that have been placed on the black parametric grille. The Hyundai logo is placed over the bonnet, and an Exter badge is located underneath. The front also features a faux silver skid plate.

The car will come with dual-tone alloy wheels and wheel arches wrapped in thick black cladding, which enhances the boxy look of the car. The parametric design language is also visible in the C-pillar garnish. The floating roof design is further enhanced with the incorporation of bridge-type roof rails.

The Hyundai Exter is going to be the most reasonably priced SUV that Hyundai sells in India.

Hyundai Exter powertrain

The Hyundai Exter will be offered with three powertrain options — a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, which will be offered with the option of a 5-speed manual transmission, and a Smart Auto AMT. It can also be run on E20 fuel. This engine already does its duty in the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, i20, and Venue, and produces 83bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. It will be fair to assume that the Exter will have similar outputs.

The Hyundai Exter will also be offered with a 1.2-litre bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG engine, which will come with only a 5-speed manual transmission. The Grand i10 Nios and Aura both use the same engine, which generates 95Nm of torque and 69bhp of power.

Hyundai Exter price and competitors

Hyundai has started accepting bookings for the Hyundai Exter at a token amount of ₹11,000. Although the prices are yet to be revealed, this micro-SUV will compete with the likes of the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
