Honda Shine 100 launched at Rs 64,900

The Shine 100 Honda’s new 100cc commuter with an engine that’s OBD2-A compliant

Honda has launched its all-new 100cc city commuter motorcycle, the Shine 100, at an introductory price of Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). Although Honda hasn’t given away any details of it yet, the Japanese giant claims that the Shine 100 will deliver best-in-class fuel efficiency. It is available in five colour options and gets an optional six-year warranty. With the Shine 100 Honda plans to cater to the 100cc motorcycle segment in India which contributes to nearly 1/3rd of all two-wheeler sales in India.

Honda Shine 100 engine and chassis

As the name suggests, the Honda Shine 100 is powered by an all-new 100cc engine which churns out 7.5bhp and 8.05Nm torque. This engine is OBD2 compliant and Honda has made it as light as possible to aid performance and fuel efficiency. Although the brand hasn’t given away any details of it yet, it claims that the Shine 100 will deliver best-in-class fuel efficiency.

The Shine 100 is underpinned by a steel diamond frame. It gets telescopic long-travel forks at the front and dual-shock absorbers at the rear. On the braking front, the Shine 100 gets a drum brake setup at both ends aided by CBS (Combi-Brake System). Honda has also fitted the Shine with an external fuel pump outside the fuel tank in a bid to reduce maintenance time.

The Shine 100’s gets styling and graphics which is inspired by its elder sibling, the Shine 125. It sports all black alloy wheels and an aluminum grab rail. Honda has made the Shine 100 available in five dual-tone colours: Black with Red Stripes, Black with Blue Stripes, Black with Green Stripes, Black with Gold Stripes and Black with Grey Stripes.

The Honda Shine 100 gets a 677mm long seat and seat height of 786mm which allows easy ground touch for average height Indian riders. It als gets a 168mm ground clearance to tackle the bad roads of our country. It gets old school style, twin analogue dials in the instrument cluster and a side stand engine cut off feature as well.

Honda Shine 100 price, rivals and warranty

Honda has launched the Shine 100 at a highly competitive introductory price of Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). It rivals the likes of the TVS Radeon, Hero Splendor Plus, Hero HF Deluxe and Bajaj Platina 100. Honda is offering the Shine 100 with a three + three year warranty.
