Bounce has finally launched the Infinity E1 electric scooter after teasing it on social media handles. The Bounce Infinity E1 was in the news for quite some time, thanks to the introduction of the ‘battery as a service’ programme — we have already covered this in another story which you can read more about by clicking here, but we’ll still give you a little recap here. Through the ‘battery as a service’ programme, Bounce aims to increase the acceptance of electric scooters in the Indian market (and electric vehicles in general) by featuring a removable Lithium-ion battery which can be swapped via Bounce’s battery-swapping network each time one runs out of charge. Bounce claims that this will bring down the running costs of the scooter by 40 per cent.

Bounce will offer the Infinity E1 in two configurations — the one with the battery and charger included is priced at Rs 68,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while those who opt for the battery-as-a-service programme will face a shocking price tag of just Rs 45,099 (ex-showroom, Delhi)!

Bounce Infinity E1 Design

The Bounce Infinity E1 adds futuristic touches to its modern-retro design theme

Apart from teasing its new product on social media handles and on the internet, Bounce had released a sole image before the launch so we did have some idea about its looks, and the end result is quite interesting. Like most modern-retro scooters today, the Bounce Infinity E1 has been styled like the futuristic interpretation of a retro scooter. Colour options on the Infinity E1 include Sporty Red, Sparkle Black, Pearl White, Desat Silver and Comed Grey. Additionally, Bounce will also offer some custom design options with the Infinity E1. The tail lamp, in particular, will remind you of a certain Japanese scooter loved by a lot of us. Which one do you think it is? Let us know in the comments.

Bounce Infinity E1 Powertrain, Range and Charging

This is how the battery swapping station looks like

This is where Bounce has been creating a lot of hype, by roping in Hrithik Roshan and asking questions to the audience about its range, charging, battery etc. To quote him, “sabka jawaab milega.” The Bounce Infinity E1 is powered by a BLDC electric motor, and while Bounce hasn’t mentioned power figures, torque figures stand at a claimed 83Nm. The battery is an IP67-rated 2kWh unit and as part of the battery-as-a-service option, you can swap out the discharged battery for a fully-charged one via Bounce’s battery-swapping station, which can be found attached to a store or set up independently. All you need to do is simply remove the discharged battery from under the seat, and switch it with a fully charged one from the swapping station. Bounce claims the battery takes roughly 4 to 5 hours for a full charge via any regular socket. A claimed range of 85km seems a little less when compared to the Ola S1 and Ather 450X, and that places the Bounce Infinity E1 closer to the Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube. Bounce claims a top speed of 65kmph, while a 0-40kmph run takes 8 seconds to reach. Kerb weight stands at mere 94kg!

Bounce Infinity E1 Features

The process of swapping out batteries will take just one minute!

Bounce promised a lot of ‘intelligent’ features on the Infinity E1, and they have kept their end of the bargain. The Bounce Infinity E1 packs a host of equipment, starting with the Canbus system which allows all the essential sensors and devices to communicate without a network host. You also receive smartphone connectivity via bluetooth, remote tracking via the Bounce Infinity app, geofencing, anti-theft alerts, tow alert, cruise control, and an interesting ‘drag’ mode but it’s not the type we were thinking of in the first place. This helps the scooter to crawl in case you get a flat tyre and need to push it till you find a puncture repair shop. A 12-litre boot should also be adequate enough to store all your knick-knacks, however it won't be able to hold a helmet due to the battery pack being placed in the same compartment. Some more features include projector headlamps, a digital speedometer, a Power mode, and an Eco mode.

Braking is courtesy a disc brake setup on both ends which also combines an electronic system, while suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic suspension on the front, and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The Infinity E1 receives 12-inch wheels on both ends.

Bounce Infinity E1 Prices and Rivals

The Bounce Infinity E1 joins a hotly-contested electric scooter segment. It is going up against the likes of the Ather 450X, Ola S1, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and the Simple One. However, because of its range, we feel it is more targeted against the Chetak and iQube. Pre-bookings for the Infinity E1 commence today, with deliveries slated to begin from March 2022. The Bounce Infinity E1 comes in two variants — the E1 with battery and charger included is priced at Rs 68,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi and Karnataka), and ex-showroom prices will vary across states such as Gujarat at Rs 59,999, Maharashtra at Rs 69,999, Rajasthan at Rs 72,999, and the rest of the states at Rs 79,999.

The E1 with battery-as-a-service option will cost an even lower Rs 45,099 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Are you convinced? Hit this link and pre-book yours now. We will be riding the Bounce Infinity E1 very soon so stay tuned for our first ride review!
