The BMW Motorrad CE 02 concept was unveiled recently, and it will make you think for a while. BMW Motorrad says the CE 02 concept is ‘something new’ entirely, and does not conform to either the bike category or the scooter category.

BMW Motorrad says that the CE 02 is for teenagers who are looking to get their first taste of action… behind the handlebars of course! And from the looks of it appears to be a stripped down, barebones product but it actually packs a lot of tech. It gets two battery units, though details about the battery pack remain unknown at the moment. The CE 02 is powered by a belt-driven motor which packs 14bhp of power, while torque produced also remains unspecified for now. The seat height is specified to be 730mm while the kerb weight is barely 120kg which should make it very flickable in traffic, and it maxes out at a top speed of 90kmph — perfect for the urban jungle. The CE 02 can also travel 90 kilometres on a full charge.

BMW Motorrad will offer the CE 02 with a small digital instrument cluster which shows basic information, but it also seems to be equipped with on-board navigation. The headlight is essentially a cluster of four LED lights, while two translucent units fixed on both sides of the seat work as the tail lamp. The CE 02 concept also offers storage space between the seat and the tubular frame, and also below the battery pack.

The BMW Motorrad CE 02 is the second product to adorn the CE badge after the production version of the CE 04 maxi-scooter, which was unveiled recently. Given the small time frame between the concept and the production-spec CE 04, we can’t help but think that a production-spec CE 02 might be around the corner too.
