Aston Martin showcases bespoke DBX ahead of the Geneva Motor Show

Customised by the company’s Q division, this DBX features unique applications of carbonfibre

The DBX is possibly one of the best looking SUVs on the market right now and Aston Martin is looking to make a splash with it at Geneva this year, with the help of the boffins at its Q division. The customisations on the outside of the DBX start with a special satin Xenon Grey paintjob complemented by 22-inch gloss black rims to differentiate it from the ‘standard’ DBX. There is plenty on the insides as well.

When it comes to the interior, most of the customisations involve carbon. For starters it gets a special carbonfibre finish on the central tunnel that is shaped from a single block of carbon, but made up of 280 individual layers. The process of getting such a unique finish involves a curing process that takes 12 hours, and about 90 hours of five-axis milling before it is installed by hand at Aston Martin’s factory. The cabin gets a custom diamond patterned satin aluminium 'jewellery pack’ along with black leather to compliment the rest of the details. Aston Martin didn’t expend all of the carbonfibre in the passenger compartment though, they’ve even finished the boot floor in the stuff!

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President said, “Of course, the example shown today is just one sphere of inspiration that can be explored, but with DBX providing the ultimate canvas to bring a vision to life, I fully expect to see a wide and broad variety of creations over the coming months”.

This DBX is an example for prospective customers to have a look at, and get inspired to spend their dear money on a bespoke Aston Martin. Some options that debut on this car, like the paint finish, will be available off the shelves now. The one-off DBX will be on display at Aston Martin’s stand at the Geneva Motor Show. The show’s public days start from March 5 and go on till March 15.
