Veils are off the sixth-generation Hyundai Verna, which has made its global debut in Delhi today. The hotly anticipated sedan has been launched at an introductory price of 10.89 lakh, with four trims on offer. The new Verna sports fresh styling, a completely new interior and the option of nat-asp petrol and turbo-petrol engines. It gets new features on the inside and even ADAS on the top-spec variants. Here’s everything that you need to know about it:

2023 Hyundai Verna styling

The new Hyundai Verna sports fresh styling, which is in line with its global lineup. It gets a split-headlight design at the front with LED DRLs and a full-width light bar. The fresh face is adorned by Hyundai’s parametric grille which also houses sensors for the ADAS tech. The global design influence continues on to the sides with sharp cuts and creases along with a fastback-esque sloping roof. The Verna also gets a full-width LED light bar at the rear, which I have to say is my favourite angle of this new sedan. It rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and gets red callipers on the turbo variant. Hyundai is offering the new Verna with seven single-tone and two-dual tone exterior colour options.

2023 Hyundai Verna interior and features

The 2023 Hyundai Verna boasts a completely revamped interior. On the digital real estate front it gets a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and digital instrument cluster of similar size in front of the driver. The driver gets an electronically adjustable seat with height adjustment and both the front seats get cooling and heating function, which is a segment first feature. The new Verna also gets Level 2 ADAS tech with forward collision warning, blind spot collision warning, blind spot collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane following assist, leading vehicle departure alert and rear cross traffic collision-avoidance assist for pedestrians and cyclists.

More features include a 8-speaker BOSE sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting and a wireless charging pad to charge your devices. It also gets the largest in segment boot which measures 528-litres, a rear glass sunshade and even a hands free operation for the boot.

2023 Hyundai Verna engine options and safety features

Hyundai is offering the new Verna with two petrol engines. A more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine which churns out 158bhp and 253Nm of peak torque. You have the option of choosing between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT with the Verna Turbo. Hyundai is claiming that the DCT plus turbo-petrol combo can do the 0-100kmph run in 8.1 seconds. Hyundai also claims that this engine when paired with the manual gearbox can deliver upto 20kmpl and 20.6kmpl with the CVT.

The second powertrain on offer is a 1.5-litre nat-asp petrol engine which generates 113bhp and 144Nm. This mill can be had with either a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission with a fuel efficiency of 19.6kmpl and 18.6kmpl respectively. The CVT is available only on the two top-end variants [SX, SX(O)] of the 1.5-litre nat-asp petrol engine.

The Verna gets three drive modes, namely, sport, eco and normal which can be toggled through a button on the centre console.

On the safety front the new Verna gets six airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, hill-start assist, ABS, EBD, TC, disc brakes all around, cornering headlights and segment first front parking sensors.

2023 Hyundai Verna price and rivals

Hyundai has launched the new Verna at an introductory price of Rs 10.89 lakh, ex-showroom. It has four trim levels EX, S, SX, SX(O) and a total of 10 models, with the top-end turbo-petrol plus DCT combo demanding Rs 17.37 lakh.
