When the biggest car manufacturer in India is launching a new vehicle, you know you have to stop, sit down and listen. The 2022 Brezza caused quite a storm ever since it got leaked on social media. Cut to a few months later, Maruti Suzuki has now launched the 2022 Brezza, with prices starting from Rs 7.99 lakh, ranging up to Rs 13.96 lakh. The 2022 Brezza comes with a bunch of updates, but it will have its work cut out, as it goes up against horde of rivals in the segment such as the newly-launched Hyundai Venue facelift, the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Honda WR-V and also the Tata Punch.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Design
On the design front, Maruti Suzuki has decided not tamper with what has worked for them, and the new Brezza sticks to the same design language, looking more like an evolution of the outgoing model. Not that we’re complaining, but we’ll wait for Aatish’s perspective on the first drive review. The side profile remains identical, and the new Brezza gets three dual-tone paint schemes, along with six mono-tone paint schemes to choose from. The rear sees the most dramatic change with sleeker tail lamps and a redesigned tailgate.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Powertrain
The 1.5-litre nat-asp petrol from the outgoing model continues to perform its duties on the 2022 Brezza, producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Like the recently-updated XL6 and Ertiga, the 2022 Brezza too now gets a six-speed automatic transmission, replacing the erstwhile four-speed torque converter automatic. It now gets paddle shifters as well! This powertrain also continues to receive mild-hybrid technology.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Interiors and Equipment
The interiors and equipment list have witnessed the most significant changes in the 2022 Brezza, as it gets the same steering wheel seen on the Swift and Baleno, along with an updated dashboard layout.
In terms of the equipment, the 2022 Brezza now receives a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, an 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, cruise control, rear AC vents, connected car technology and remote functions via the Suzuki Connect suite among others. Keeping safety in mind, the Brezza also gets six airbags, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, high-speed alerts, geo-fencing, reverse parking sensors, and electronic stability programme.

With these updates, the 2022 Brezza is sure to give its rivals reasons to worry, but at the same time, it remains to be seen how the lack of a diesel engine will affect its performance, especially against rivals that offer a diesel option such as the facelifted Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet, and the Tata Nexon. Its other rivals include the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Honda WR-V and the Tata Punch.
