Those who’ve been following #evoIndia for a while will know that the Hyundai Tucson is among our favorite SUVs in its segment, and while we’ve had the third-generation model on sale for quite a while, the Korean car maker has unveiled the fourth-generation Tucson, which will be launched later this year. The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson continues to rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross, and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

2022 Hyundai Tucson Design

The rear features a hidden wiper and sleeker tail lamps

We’ve spoken about the design of the Hyundai Tucson in detail, but the important thing to remember here is that unlike the older Tucson that looked like a grown-up first-gen Creta, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is a radical departure from that design language with a more rounded profile. There’s the much-talked about parametric grille up front, which will soon make its way onto the Creta facelift as well. At the rear, you get sharp, slightly triangular tail lamps with a strip spread across the tailgate. The diamond-cut alloys are shod on 18-inch tyres. We’ll have to wait for a review to find out how it looks in the flesh. At 2750mm, the 2022 Tucson also claims to get the longest wheelbase in its segment, which is 25mm longer than that of the Citroen C5 Aircross.

2022 Hyundai Tucson: What’s under the hood?

The 2022 Tucson offers both petrol and diesel powertrains

Just like with the previous model, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson continues to offer petrol and diesel options under its hood. The first is a 2-litre turbo-diesel powertrain with 183bhp and 416Nm of torque, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The other is a 2-litre petrol powertrain, putting out 153bhp and 192Nm of torque, with six-speed automatic transmission on offer.

2022 Hyundai Tucson: What equipment do I get?

There's plenty of equipment on offer

Just like the exteriors, the Tucson’s interiors are completely brand-new as well. The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is similar to the one on the Alcazar, and something highly intriguing is the full-length A/C vents spread across the dashboard, which Hyundai refers to as the Multi-Air system. There’s also a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with climate control, cruise control, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, Alexa and Google Home integration, valet mode, voice commands, drive modes (eco, sport, smart), all-wheel drive with terrain modes (snow, mud, sand), OTA updates, ventilated front seats with electronic adjustability, reclining rear bench, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a powered tailgate among others.

You get drive modes and terrain modes as well

The 2022 Tucson also packs in driver assistance systems such as lane assist, blind-spot monitor and collision assist, parking sensors, forward and rear traffic collision avoid assist and more. Additionally, it also receives six airbags, hill descent and ascent assist, and electronic stability control.
