Details of the all-new Suzuki S-Cross have come to light as the SUV was unveiled today for the European markets. With this, the Suzuki S-Cross now enters its third generation and is underpinned by an updated version of the brand’s Global C platform. The all-new Suzuki S-Cross gets updated styling for the exterior that makes it look a lot more SUV-like. Also, the interiors benefit from newer equipment.

2021 Suzuki S-Cross Exterior

On the face of the all-new Suzuki S-Cross is a larger grille that’s now finished in piano black and has a honeycomb-like pattern. Suzuki’s latest cars have been seen wearing vertical chrome strips on the grille with the Suzuki logo in the center, and likewise the S-Cross gets one too. Interestingly on the S-Cross, the chrome strip merges with the headlamps, which are all-new units in entirety. They are sleeker and feature tri-beam elements within them. Both the headlamps and bonnet now sit higher up than they used to, giving it that added SUV-ness. The front bumper is redesigned too, accommodating the repositioned fog lamps and vents.

The enhanced SUV stance is further accentuated on the side with newly designed wheel arches which are now a lot more squared and wear beefier cladding. The window line rises towards the C-pillar, and is outlined by chrome for a pronounced effect.

The rear of the S-Cross now receives wraparound tail lamps

Just like the front, the rear bumper is reprofiled and gets a faux skid plate too. The tailgate is redesigned to accommodate the newer, wrap-around tail lamps that are connected via a decorative element on the boot. The all-new Suzuki S-Cross also gets a subtle spoiler for the rear.

Despite being underpinned by an updated version of the brand’s Global C platform, the all-new S-Cross remains identical to the current model in terms of the dimensions, including the wheelbase. So, it still measures 4,300mm in terms of the overall length, 1785mm in terms of the width and 1585mm in terms of height, while the wheelbase is measured at 2600mm. The dimensions might be carried forward from the current S-Cross but with that comes its excellent cabin space and roomy interiors, one of the biggest highlights of the S-Cross.

2021 Suzuki S-Cross Interiors

The interior carries over a lot of parts from existing models and looks familiar

The interiors of the 2021 Suzuki S-Cross are revised and wear a fresher design. The highlight with the new dashboard is the new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The AC-vents have been repositioned and are now placed under the infotainment unit. Keen eyes would be quick to notice that a lot of the switchgear has been carried forward from the current S-Cross model — which includes the steering wheel, the gear lever, the power window switches and climate control unit. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the all-new S-Cross in India with the same interior design.

2021 Suzuki S-Cross Features

As mentioned earlier, the all-new S-Cross now comes with a larger 9-inch touchscreen that gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Along with this, the S-Cross is now equipped with ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera with rear-cross traffic alert and an electric sunroof. Major additions have been made in terms of the all-new S-Cross’s advanced driver assistance systems — it now gets active safety features like autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane departure prevention, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

2021 Suzuki S-Cross Powertrains

We just wish the 1.4-litre turbo petrol makes its way to India!

Introduced for the European markets, the all-new Suzuki S-Cross comes equipped with the iconic Boosterjet direct injection turbo engine, coupled with an Allgrip Select 4X4 system. Notably, there’s a 48V mild-hybrid system on offer which, in addition to minimising fuel consumption, also assists in acceleration by adding electric torque to the motor. Combined power output (motor and engine) is rated at 127bhp and 235Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission, or a six-speed automatic gearbox.

For the European markets, Suzuki will also bring in a strong hybrid powertrain with a new petrol engine and a single motor generator unit later next year. It’s said to support both hybrid driving and EV driving and is to be first launched with the Vitara, followed by the S-Cross.

When it does come to India, the all-new S-Cross is expected to continue with the existing powertrain option — the sole nat-asp 1462cc petrol engine that puts out 103bhp and 138Nm of torque, and comes paired to a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic.

2021 Suzuki S-Cross India launch

The new S-Cross could make it to India next year to counter the Creta, Seltos, and the MG Astor

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the all-new Celerio in India and is expected to refresh their other higher-selling products like the Baleno, XL6 and the Vitara Brezza in the upcoming months. We’ve seen plenty of camouflaged test mules, indicating that the brand is on the role to keep their product line-up fresh and competitive. While there’s no news on the all-new S-Cross’s India launch, we expect Maruti Suzuki to launch it in India next year, with an attempt to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos and the MG Astor. Watch this space for more details on the all-new Suzuki S-Cross.
