Having made its global debut last year, the 2021 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo has finally made its way to India. For 2021, it gets more kit on the inside and styling updates outside. There will be three powertrains on offer — the 620d which only comes with the Luxury Line trim, the 630i that only gets the M Sport trim and the range-topping 630d with the powerful six-cylinder diesel engine.
For 2021, the 6 Series GT gets a facelift or LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) as the company calls it, this update brings with it wider kidney grilles at the front with a single-piece surround and a reworked bumper. The grilles are flanked by sleeker LED headlights on either side, which adopt the same twin L-shaped DRLs as the new 5 series. At the back, the new 6 Series GT gets 3D LED tail lights and a dual coloured bumper, with twin exhausts. However, it carries forward its signature sloping roofline and notchback tailgate design from the previous model. Expectedly the M Sport variant gets different wheels, sportier bumpers and array of M badges on the car.
Updates on the inside include a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system than the 10.2-inch unit from before. Otherwise, the cabin design remains largely unchanged in comparison to the previous model. You get BMW’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, configurable mood lighting, a panoramic sunroof and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system. The standard rear seat entertainment package includes two 10.25-inch screens with screen mirroring and a Blu-ray player. The M Sport Package adds in an M Sport steering wheel, new trim elements to the dashboard and more extensive application of high-gloss black. All variants of the new 6 Series GT get air-suspension as standard.
The 2021 BMW 6 Series GT will be available with a choice of three engines, one petrol and two diesels. The 630i variant gets a 2-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine making 254bhp and 400Nm torque, the 620d makes use of a 2-litre four-cylinder diesel that churns 187bhp and 400Nm and finally the 630d gets the 3-litre, six-cylinder diesel producing 261bhp and a 620Nm torque. All engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Read our review of the 6 Series GT here.
