Following the international unveiling of the KTM Duke 390 and Duke 250, the Austrian manufacturer launched these naked motorcycles in India. These motorcycles, priced at Rs 3.10 lakh and Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom), enter their third generation with a host of new updates.

2024 KTM Duke 390

In terms of design, the 2024 Duke 390 features new LED headlamps with boomerang-inspired daytime running lights (DRLs). The fuel tank shrouds on this updated model are larger, project outward more prominently, and exude a more aggressive aura than their predecessors. The new-generation naked motorcycle also appears to be much larger than the current model and has a split-seat configuration.

The 2024 KTM Duke 390's engine capacity has been increased, with a 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 44bhp and 39Nm of torque (a 0.8bhp and 2Nm increase). This engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and quick-shifter for smooth gear changes. Mechanical improvements include the use of a new steel trellis frame with a pressure die-cast aluminium subframe, a 43mm upside-down front fork, and an off-set rear monoshock suspension setup. The motorcycle has a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc for braking, as well as a comprehensive suite of ABS options, including Dual-channel, Cornering, and Supermoto modes, and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with Michelin tyres.

The new KTM Duke 390 comes with a slew of electronic rider aids, including three ride modes (Street, Rain, and Track). What is new is that KTM will offer launch control on the Duke 390 for the first time. Standard features include a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity for calls and music control.

This motorcycle is available in two colour schemes: Electronic Orange Metallic and Atlantic Blue.

2024 KTM Duke 250

The 2024 KTM 250 Duke has a sleek and compact profile, aided by smaller tank spoilers than the KTM 390 Duke. These complement the painted headlight surrounds and lower seat height. The bike now has a 5-inch LCD unit, an LED headlight, and two new colour options: Electronic Orange and Ceramic White.

The 250 Duke now has a better power-to-weight ratio than the previous generation, according to KTM. This is accomplished through the use of a novel Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) design, which not only reduces weight but also simplifies complexity through the use of fewer components. Ride-by-wire and a power assist slipper clutch are now standard equipment.

The suspension on the motorcycle is handled by a non-adjustable 43 mm WP APEX Open Cartridge big piston fork configuration with 150mm of travel up front. At the back, a WP APEX shock absorber with preload adjustment takes over.

The 250 Duke is powered by a 249cc engine that produces 30.8bhp and 24Nm of torque (up by 1.3bhp and 1Nm).

Prices of the KTM Duke 390 and the Duke 250

The latest Duke 390 and Duke 250 iterations, now in their third generation, are priced at Rs 3.10 lakh and Rs 2.39 lakh, respectively. Bookings for these models can be made on the KTM India website for Rs 4,499. According to KTM, deliveries of these motorcycles will begin in mid-September. The Duke 125, despite being unveiled globally, has yet to be launched. The Duke 200, on the other hand, has yet to receive an update.
