Volvo has launched a new top-of-the-line variant of the XC90 flagship SUV in India. Christened the XC90 Excellence Lounge Console, the variant is priced at Rs 1.42 crore (ex-showroom, India) and sits above the Excellence variant.
The highlight of the XC90 Excellence Lounge Console is a unique three-seat layout where the front passenger has been replaced by a powered ottoman unit with a leg-rest section, a storage compartment and a 17-inch fold away screen that can be repurposed to be used as a table when needed. Also available is an illuminated vanity mirror that can be stowed away when not required. It continues to get the aircraft like seating for the second row in the Excellence in addition to all the luxury features already available on the Excellence trim like the heated/cooled seats, high-end Bowers and Wilkins sound system, the Orrefors champagne flutes in the cabin, and the refrigerator in the second row.

Mechanically, the Excellence Lounge Console variant of the XC90 remains the same as the Excellence variant and uses the same T8 Twin Engine hybrid system. The system gets a 316bhp, 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine (that power the front wheels) with an 85bhp electric motor (driving the rear wheels) for a combined output of 401bhp and 640Nm of torque.
Only 15 units of the XC90 Excellence Lounge Console variant will be sold in India and bookings are currently open.
