Volkswagen has finally started accepting bookings for the automatic variants of the Polo TSI and Vento TSI. The Polo automatic is currently offered only as the GT TSI, costing Rs 9.67 lakh. Meanwhile, the Vento can be had in the Highline Plus variant for Rs 12.99 lakh. You can now place your orders on Volkswagen’s website or by heading to a dealership. Deliveries of both cars will begin from September 15.

Both cars are powered by Volkswagen’s 1-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI engine, which is internally referred to as the EA211. This powerplant is rated at 108.4bhp and 175Nm of twist in its current state of tune.

The Vento Highline Plus AT is open for bookings at Rs 12.99 lakh

The new Polo GT TSI comes with dual front airbags, black rim caps and GTI-inspired seats. The black roof spoiler is a distinguishing feature which sets the TSI variant apart from other variants of the Polo, now that the limited-edition TSI edition car is no longer on sale. The Vento Highline Plus AT is equipped with an exclusive four-airbag setup and LED headlamps to make it the top-end trim in the Vento range. The BS6 AT variants of Polo TSI and Vento Highline Plus have an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 16.47kmpl and 16.35kmpl, respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “At Volkswagen, our brand philosophy is to be a premium accessible car manufacturer in India. With that intention, we are launching our automatic variant on the BS6 Polo & Vento. That will continue to offer customers the performance & enhanced fun-to-drive experience, resonating with its maximum power and minimum consumption ideology. With the introduction of the automatic variant, we are making our carlines more accessible for the Indian customers.”

Currently, the Polo GT TSI is Rs 1.8 lakh more expensive than the manual Polo, while the Vento AT is Rs 2 lakh more than the manual. VW has confirmed that it will launch new AT variants that sit below these flagship automatics in the near future to reduce that gap.
