Rolls-Royce pulls covers off the new Ghost

The 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost now gets all-wheel steering and a brand-new Planar suspension system

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has debuted the new 2021 Ghost that the British luxury carmaker deems as the most luxurious Rolls-Royce ever. It now features all-wheel-drive as well as all-wheel-steering along with a new Planar suspension system. The front fascia of the 2021 Ghost is also revised with new laser headlamps and a downlit Pantheon grille.

The minimalistic interior on the new Ghost

The all-wheel drive and all wheel steering systems on the 2021 Ghost will lend the car with better agility and composed feel in both the city streets as well as country tours. Rolls-Royce says that the new Ghost is the most technologically advanced car the company has built yet. The Planar suspension has been in development for three years and is expected to further improve the brilliant ride quality the British carmaker boasts of. The new setup incorporates upper wishbone dampers in the front suspension along with cameras to read the road ahead and prepare the suspension to adapt accordingly.

The new ghost also sees the new touches the brand recently made such as the Spirit of Ecstasy Expression in the doors as well as Purple Spirit contrast stitching in the leather. The dash as well as ceiling of this luxury land-yacht will be covered in stars, as is customary for Rolls-Royce. Most importantly, every Ghost can have a bespoke exterior and interior, to suit the client’s needs. Rolls-Royce says that the new Ghost is the most technologically advanced car the company has built yet. The doors will now open and close electronically, at the push of a button.

The 2021 Ghost will see an increased displacement of 6.75 litres in a twin-turbo V12 engine over the 6.5-litre V12 from the outgoing model. However, the peak power and torque output remains unchanged at 563bhp and 850Nm. Meanwhile, the chassis will based on a space-grade aluminium frame.

Notably, the Ghost has been Rolls-Royce’s most successful product in its 116-year history. Will the 2021 Ghost live up to the tradition? Well, on paper it seems like the new Ghost will be a massive step-up compared to its previous iterations.
