Mini launches the Countryman in India at ₹54.9 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Mini Countryman now comes in an all-electric form, grows in size and gets a completely revamped styling

Mini has launched the 2024 all-electric Countryman in India at ₹54.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with a new EV powertrain, revamped styling for the exterior and a whole new cabin layout.

The Mini Countryman features a new octagonal front grille integrated with radar sensors for the level 2 ADAS. It is flanked by LED headlights, which come with optional three signature animations. The vehicle rides on 17-inch wheels as standard, with optional 19-inch wheels with the ‘Favoured’ pack. The Countryman has gotten 60mm taller and 130mm longer over the previous model and now has a low drag coefficient of 0.26. There are nine colour options available – Melting Silver, Midnight Black, Nanuq White, British Racing Green, Chili Red II, Indigo Sunset Blue, Blazing Blue, Smokey Green and Slate Blue.

The cabin gets a free-standing 9.4-inch OLED info system and red ambient lighting in the dash

Inside, the Mini Countryman has a free-standing 9.4-inch OLED infotainment system with voice-controlled commands and a personal digital companion named ‘Spike’. The gear selector has been redesigned as toggle switches and moved up, freeing up cabin space for a wireless charger. It has a spacious 460 litre boot that can be expanded to 1450 litres by folding the rear seats. The ‘Go-kart’ mode stiffens the suspension, gets sporty red displays on the infotainment system, red ambient lighting on the dash and a quicker throttle response. You can also option a Harman Kardon sound system. Upholstery options include – grey, blue or black sports seats in the ‘Classic’ Pack and beige, dark petrol or vintage brown JCW sports seats in the ‘Favoured’ pack.

The electric motor makes 201bhp and 250Nm, resulting in a 0 to 100kmph sprint time of 8.6 seconds

The Mini Countryman is equipped with a motor that delivers 201bhp and 250Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 170kmph. Powered by a 66.45kWh battery, it offers a WLTP claimed range of 462km. Via a 130kW charger, it can juice up from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 29 minutes.

Mini Countryman price and rivals

The closest rival to the Countryman, in terms of pricing is the Volvo XC40 Recharge

The all-electric Mini Countryman’s prices start from ₹54.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It rivals the BMW iX1 priced at ₹66.90 lakh, the Mercedes-Benz EQA priced at ₹66 lakh, Hyundai Ioniq 5 priced at ₹ 46 lakh, Volvo XC40 Recharge priced at ₹54.95 lakh.
