Mercedes-Benz India will be launching the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance in India on November 12, and the sedan is powered by a performance hybrid powertrain from the manufacturer’s learnings in Formula 1. Powered by a 2-litre engine at the front and an electric motor on the rear axle, the C63 S E Performance produces a system output of 670bhp and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds

The C63 S E Performance gets a 2-litre four-cylinder engine under the bonnet, and with a power output of 469bhp, it is the most powerful production four-cylinder engine in the world. This engine works in tandem with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor sitting on the rear axle, a high-performance battery and a fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. This makes for a system output of 670bhp, along with 1020Nm of torque. The C63 S E Performance can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 280kmph. Power is sent to the wheels via a 9-speed transmission. This is also the first time that the Mercedes-AMG C-Class is fitted with active rear axle steering.

The C63 S E Performance has grown in dimensions compared to the regular C-Class

The C63 S E Performance may look identical to the regular C-Class but it has more aggressive elements in the styling. You get a narrow air outlet in the centre of the bonnet along with two power bulges, along with an AMG-specific grille with vertical struts. Move to the side and you will find that the C63 gets 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, while 20-inch wheels are optional. You also get matching side skirts and a large diffuser at the rear. In terms of dimensions, the C63 S E is longer by 83mm, while the front track width has grown by 76mm. The wheelbase has grown by 10mm. You also get an AMG matt graphite grey magno paint finish, exclusive to the C 63 S E PERFORMANCE.

Like the regular C-Class, you continue to get the MBUX infotainment

On the inside, there are multiple upholstery options that can be had for the AMG sports seats, and these include nappa leather upholstery with the AMG crest embossed on the front head restraints. The second-generation AMG Performance seat is available as an option. Like on the regular C-Class, you continue to get the MBUX infotainment with the addition of various AMG and hybrid-specific displays, and the instrument cluster can be personalised with different display styles or views. You also get a HUD, with AMG-specific display styles such as Race and Supersport. Also on offer is the AMG Track Pace data logger, integrated for use on the race track.

Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance price

Prices for the C63 S E Performance will be announced at the sedan's launch on November 12. To provide some perspective, the standard C-Class prices start from Rs. 61.85 lakh (ex-showroom), and the C63 S E will command a fair premium over the regular model, owing to its performance-oriented powertrain and additional equipment as standard.
