Tata Motor has introduced a new variant of the Safari and Harrier called the XTA+. This variant sits between the XT+ and XZ variants and adds a 6-speed automatic transmission and a panoramic sunroof to the feature list of the XT+. The Tata Safari XTA+ will be priced at Rs 20.08 lakh, Tata Harrier and Harrier Dark will be priced at Rs 19.14 lakh and Rs 19.34 lakh respectively.
The XTA+ variant will have the same FCA-sourced 2-litre turbo-diesel engine that churns out 168bhp at 3750rpm and 350Nm at 1750-2500rpm. The engine is now mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox on offer along with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. The only real addition it gets to its features list is the panoramic sunroof. These new features will come over and above the existing features of the XT+ variant like mood lighting, eight speakers that are operated by a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration by Android Auto & Apple Car Play connectivity, automatic temperature control, and rain-sensing wipers to name a few. In terms of safety, the XTA+ variant will have dual front airbags, ABS and ESP, fog lamps & a reverse parking camera as standard features. Compared to the XZA+ it still misses out on premium upholstery, six-way power-adjustable seats, auto-dimming internal rearview mirror, 7-inch instrument cluster, terrain response modes — Normal, Rough, Wet and hill descent control.
Commenting on the introduction of these new variants, Vivek Srivatsa, Head - Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “We are ecstatic at the response received by the Harrier and the Safari. The sheer love of our customers has helped us attain the pole position in the high SUV segment. Tata Motors’ flagship SUV, the Safari along with the Harrier collectively contribute 41 per cent of the market share as of Q1 of FY22 in the premium SUV market. So, the manufacturer is leaving no stones unturned to keep the customers happy by offering them the flagship spec features in the mid-spec SUV variant.
