Tata Motors has launched the XM+ variant of the Altroz with new features and is priced at 6.6 Lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi), Rs 30,000 more than the mid-spec XM variant. In addition to all the features available on the XM variant, the XM+ gets a host of new features like the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple Car Play & Android Auto connectivity, steering mounted controls, voice alerts, voice command recognition, 16-inch wheels and remote foldable key. The XM+ variant of the Altroz will be available in four colours – High Street Gold, Downtown Red, Avenue White and Midtown Grey.
Now it is important to note that the lower XM variant has two packages on offer as well such as the XM style and the XM rhythm package. The XM style, priced Rs 34,000 more than XM, mainly adds aesthetic features to the car like 16-inch steel wheels, body coloured ORVMs, front and rear fog lamps, LED DRLs and dual tone colour options. The XM rhythm package, priced Rs 39,000 more than XM, comes with a 7-inch infotainment system just like the XM+ but also gets a reverse camera. So in comparison with these variants, the XM+ makes more sense with its additional features.
Commenting on the launch of the new XM+ variant, Vivek Srivatsa, head, marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (PVBU), Tata Motors said, “In alignment with our New Forever philosophy of maintaining the momentum of consistently bringing new and exciting products to our customers, we are delighted to announce the launch of the XM+ variant of the Altroz. With the Altroz, we have not only raised the bar in the premium hatchback segment, but also created a new benchmark for safety in the industry. We are confident that the introduction of the XM+ variant will further strengthen the appeal of the Altroz by giving customers an option to experience a variety of premium features at an extremely attractive price.”
The main goal with the launch of the XM+ is to make features from higher variants more accessible to the buyers at an affordable cost. The addition of this variant allows the buyer to choose from more rather than compromise between two variants that have a lot of price difference. A couple of months ago, we did a premium hatchback comparison test and the Altroz emerged as the winner. Now with the launch of the all-new fourth generation Hyundai i20, competition in this space is all the more fierce.
