Datsun has launched the BS6 GO and GO+ in India. The GO hatchback starts at Rs 3.99 lakh for the base manual variant and Rs 6.25 lakh for the base CVT. The seven-seater GO+ on the other hand starts at Rs 4.19 lakh for the manual and Rs 6.69 lakh for the CVT. Both are two of the most affordable CVT-equipped cars in India.

They continue to be powered by the Nissan-sourced 1.2-litre engine that has now been upgraded to match BS6 norms. In the 5-speed manual variants, the GO and GO+ make 68hp and 104Nm while the CVT variants have been tuned to produce a slightly higher 77hp along with the same torque as the manual. Claimed ARAI certified fuel efficiency stands at 19.59kmpl for the CVT and 19.02kmpl for the manual.

With the new GO and GO+, Datsun India is also offering different financing options, with the flexibility to start EMIs next year after buying the car anytime in 2020. The brand has termed this scheme as ‘Buy Now and PAY IN 2021’.

Rest of the elements remain similar to what was launched last year. The GO and GO+ continue to get features like 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play and rear parking sensors. The third row of seats in the GO+ adds practicality and additional space if you have a larger family. On the outside, the cars continue to get 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and LED DRLs too.

Commenting on the launch, Rakesh Srivastava, MD, Nissan India, said, “Built with Japanese technology, both cars are BS6-compliant and offer the most affordable CVT options in India. With innovative financial schemes, we want to extend support to our customers in these testing times. We aim to enhance the value propositions of our products in line with Datsun’s mission of enabling progressive mobility.”

With this, we can expect Renault India to make a move soon by launching the main rival of the GO+, the Triber AMT. The Triber manual currently starts at Rs 4.99 lakh. The GO hatchback on the other hand, rivals the likes of Hyundai Santro, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Renault Kwid and the Tata Tiago.
