TVS launches iQube Electric at Rs 1.15 lakh

The first electric product from TVS will be only available in Bengaluru in the first phase

Barely a fortnight after Bajaj launched the Chetak, another Indian two-wheeler giant has launched an electric scooter. TVS Motor Company, in a surprise move has launched the iQube Electric today at Rs 1.15 lakh (on-road). The scooter will be available in 10 dealerships in Bengaluru from January 27 in the first phase.

The iQube Electric is equipped with 4.4kW electric motor. The scooter can achieve a top speed of 78kmph. The scooter gets Li-ion battery that has a claimed range of 75km on a single charge. The e-scooter boasts of a 0-40 Sprint in 4.2 seconds. The iQube gets two riding modes along with park assist or reverse mode.

The e-scooter gets new generation of TVS SmartXonnect system, which enables the user to connect the phone with their scooter. The TFT cluster on the scooter gets 58 functions including features like geo-fencing, remote battery charge status, navigation assist, last Park location incoming call alert/SMS alert and more.

Currently, the scooter is available in only White colour and boasts of all-LED illumination, telescopic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable rear shocks.

Unlike Bajaj, TVS is offering public charging infrastructure along with home charging stations for iQube owners. The home charging station will be installed by TVS personnel.

With the launch of iQube, Bengaluru now has the Ather 450 and Bajaj Chetak on sale. All the three scooters are priced closely, have the similar range and boast of bunch of premium features.
