After building a lot of anticipation and hype over the last few months, a few years rather ever since the unveiling of the T6X, Tork Motors has finally launched the Kratos. The Tork Kratos has been designed and will be completely in India. Making it a fully made in India EV. Apart from the Kratos, the company also launched the Kratos R, a sportier version of the Kratos with higher outputs than the standard bike. Let’s get into all you need to know about the bike then, shall we?

The Tork Kratos uses an axial flux motor which is said to have up to 96 per cent efficiency. This motor is good for 7.5kW of peak power and 4kW of continuous power. The Kratos R on the other hand gets bumped outputs with 9kW peak power and 4.5kW continuous output. In terms of torque, the standard Kratos is good for 28Nm while the Kratos R is good for 38Nm. On the performance front, the Kratos can accelerate from 0-40kmph in 4 seconds and on to a top speed of 100kmph, while, the Kratos R can achieve 0-40kmph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 105kmph. The bikes also get a reverse mode, which is a nifty feature to have. Battery wise, you get a 4kWh Li-ion battery that offers an IDC range of 180km, Tork Motors claims that the real-world range will be close to 120km. The Kratos R also benefits from fast charging allowing the user to charge the battery from 0-80 per cent in around one hour. The battery also gets an IP67 rating meaning bad weather shouldn’t dictate your ability to ride the bike. Tork Motors will provide a home charger and is also working on setting up fast-charging stations in major hotspots around the city.

Now, on the design front, Tork Motors has taken a rather straightforward approach with the Kratos and the Kratos R looking like conventional 160cc naked bikes. The standard bike will be available in white and the R will be available in four colour options — white, blue, red and black. The bike is underpinned by a split trellis frame which is suspended on telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking comes courtesy of a disc brake at the front and rear with CBS. The Kratos has an extremely friendly 785mm seat height and the whole package tips the scales at 140kg.

On the features front, you get a fully digital instrument cluster, LED lighting at both ends and a fair bit of connected features. The Kratos can receive OTA updates and the 4G connectivity enables features like geofencing, crash alerts and a lot more. There’s also an app that will show you all sorts of telemetry and also enables navigation. All these features are enabled by Tork’s proprietary operating system — TIROS. Finally, there is also a feature called Pit Crew which allows the user to schedule doorstep service for their Kratos.

Commenting on the launch of the Tork Kratos, Kapil Shelke, CEO/Founder of Tork Motors said, “We are proud to showcase the fruit of our labour and learning, with the launch of India’s first electric motorcycle - Kratos and its variant Kratos R. As the name indicates, Kratos is the personification of strength and power. We believe our rigorously tested product will be a gamechanger in the mobility segment, that will not only benefit our customers in making an informed choice but also offer financial benefits such as saving money on fuel.”

Prices for the Kratos start at Rs 1.07 lakh ex-showroom Pune and Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) for the Kratos R. These prices are after the application of the FAME and other government subsidies. The prices will vary from state to state. Tork Motors is launching the Kratos in phases. Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi will get the bike first and then the company has plans to launch in a hundred cities later on. Bookings are already open and prospective buyers can place an interest with a token amount of Rs 999 on the company’s website. We will be riding the bike soon, so stay tuned for our first ride review.
