Odysse Electric Vehicles has launched its second electric motorcycle, called the Odysse Vader. Prices start from Rs 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad) and the Vader is powered by a 4bhp electric motor.

Odysse Vader design

Unlike the fully-faired Evoqis electric motorcycle, the design of the Vader is akin to a 150-200cc naked motorcycle like the Bajaj Pulsar, albeit with the engine being replaced by an electric motor that is placed in a boxy-looking housing. The design is nothing out of the ordinary, with the Vader getting LED lighting and a headlamp cowl, alloy wheels and body graphics. Purely in terms of design, the Vader aims to offend none and is offered in five paint schemes – midnight blue, fiery red, glossy black, venom green and misty grey. The Vader also offers 18-litres of storage space.

Odysse Vader suspension

The Vader gets 17-inch alloy wheels, with a 90/90 front tyre and a 140/70 rear tyre, with suspension duties being handled by telescopic shocks up front and a spring loaded suspension at the rear. Handling braking duties is a combi braking system with a 240mm disc brake up front and 220mm disc at the rear.

Odysse Vader powertrain

Powering the Vader is a 4bhp electric hub motor, allowing it to have a claimed top speed of 85kmph, and this motor is mated to a 3.7kWh battery which makes use of NMC prismatic cells. The battery is IP67 rated and AIS 156 compliant. The electric powertrain also gets multiple safety mechanisms to prevent incidents of thermal runaway, including an auto cut-off and user alert system in case of overheating, a cell temperature check, temperature sensors to monitor battery temperatures and you also get a pressure release valve for the battery. In terms of range, the Vader EV offers a claimed range of 90 to 125kmph depending on which of the three forward riding modes you choose.

7-inch display with three themes

Odysse Vader features

The Vader gets a 7-inch Android screen which endows it with phone connectivity via bluetooth, Google map navigation and integrated music apps. The EV motorcycle also gets IoT features via a mobile application, that allow you to track, geo-fence and even immobilise the scooter. The IP67 rated display gets three design themes which you can choose from. The system also supports OTA updates.
