The Ultimate E championship added another feather to its cap with the events that went into the fourth race weekend. And, this time around it was more than just motorsport, as Ultimate E collaborated with Immortals India, a Mumbai-based online gaming enterprise.
A star-studded affair
The events witnessed participation from a large pool of sportspersons and enthusiasts, such as actress Regina Cassandra, cricketers L Balaji, Yuzvendra Chahal, N Jagdeesan and M Ashwin, hockey players Sumit Kumar, Suraj Karkera, Vivek Sagar and Nilkanth Sharma, racing driver and healthcare entrepreneur Anindith Reddy, and upcoming sim racing talent Amith Kutti.
Moving now to the motorsport talent, and the driver lineup also included the likes of former F1 racer and current Super GT champion Narain Karthikeyan, Asian Le Mans racer Arjun Maini and his brother and Renault Eurocup racer Kush, touring car racer Karthik Tharani, Nascar Euro talent Advait Deodhar, FIA Formula 4 racer Muhammed Ibrahim, Formula MRF 1600 national champ Chetan Korada, and Formula LGB 1300 racer Sai Sanjay.
Also in attendance were international drivers like Ronny Wechselberger and Sebastien Grunert from Germany, Jeffrey Kruger from South Africa, and Jordan Albert from the UK.
Pedal to the metal? Not quite yet...
There was a surprise in store before all the racing action went underway, as the evening’s proceedings were kicked off with the celebrity PubG tournament, where Ultimate E brought together India’s top PubG players and influencers, such as Abhijeet ‘Ghatak’ Andhare and Naman Mathur.
The PubG tournament was followed by the Indian Super Gran Turismo Series in which gamers and sim racers from across the country went head-to-head against each other on a mix of real life and fantasy circuits within the game. A series of four competitive races saw Chennai’s Ravikiran Vissa stamp his authority on the field winning three out of four races, with Aditya Raghav and Aditya Bakshi rounding off the podium.
The final event of the day was the Ultimate E All Stars #Raceforacause. The proceeds for this race went to SEEDS (Socio Economic and Educational Development Society), a charity that provides meal kits, hygiene kits and financial support for healthcare workers during the pandemic.
Muhammed Ibrahim dominated the proceedings in race 1 and race 2. Kush Maini, who faced unfortunate incidents in the first two races, fought hard to win races 3 and 4. Despite that he was not able to catch the eventual championship winner Muhammed, whose pace and consistency helped him cinch victory.
“I’m thrilled to be the winner of this extremely competitive series. It’s even more special to know that any proceeds from this event have gone towards charity,” said an ecstatic Muhammed Ibrahim after winning the championship.
“I would like to thank Ultimate E for putting together the #Raceforacause. During tough times like these, we as drivers are doing every bit we can to help the needy and the people who are out there in the frontline keeping us safe. I absolutely enjoyed racing with Muhammed and even my good friend Jordan in this extremely competitive field. I’m looking forward to being a part of next week’s special race as well”, said a delighted Kush Maini.
