Mahindra Racing - New strategies for season six

With the sixth season of the ABB FIA Formula E just around the corner, the Mahindra Racing team aims to strengthen their in-house operations by hiring new technical personnel. David Clarke has been brought onboard the Mahindra Racing team as the Team Manager, while Paul Willett will join as a Chief Mechanic. To support the strategy, there will be more engineering recruits this year before the season begins.

David Clarke is an experienced professional and was formerly the Team Manager of Team DS Techeetah. David has also worked in single-seater and sportscar racing series along with DTM. Back in 2012, he also worked with McLaren as a Model Maker with the aerodynamic team and as a Chief Engineer of the Mercedes-AMG DTM Team in 2015.

Paul Willett has more than 20 years of industry experience related to the World Endurance Championship, Blancpain and the Asian Le Mans series, and has held similar positions at Strakka Racing and Jota Sport. Paul will replace Luis Miguel Lafayetter who was employed by the team management company QEV, who previously handled the whole team. The Mahindra Racing team will also move their current HQ in Banbury to new premises close to Grove, Oxfordshire.

“As Formula E has grown, so has Mahindra Racing’s ambition and championship winning vision. I’m delighted to welcome our new recruits to the team as we continue to drive positive change. David and Paul’s wealth of knowledge and experience will help grow our in-house operational aptitude and strengthen our race team. I am excited for what season six will bring the team. With four race victories and 18 podiums under our belt, we are proud of our success to date, but continually strive for more and won’t be satisfied until we achieve that. We are positive that the new talent we are bringing into the team will contribute to that future success,” said Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal

The pre-season testing for the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship begins on October 15, 2019, with the first race of the season taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 22, 2019.
