The Formula 2 British GP races were won by three different drivers. Robert Shwartzman won the Sprint Race 1, Richard Verschoor won the second sprint race while Guanyu Zhou won the Feature Race of the British GP. Indian driver Jehan Daruvala could not make the best out of the weekend and earned only two points from the three races.

Jehan couldn't find the pace in the Carlin car during the weekend

Jehan Daruvala (Carlin Racing) had a difficult start to the Formula 2 British GP weekend. Sprint Race 1 and 2 did not end well for the Indian driver as he could not capitalise on a single point. Jehan started P12 in Sprint Race 1 and finished in the same position. During Sprint Race 2, Jehan got tangled with Bent Viscaal (Trident) in the third sector of the Silverstone circuit. He broke his front wing during the collision and had to dive back into the pits. FIA handed him a 10 second time penalty for causing the incident. He dropped down to the back of the grid and ended up at P19.

In the Feature Race of Sunday, Jehan tried an aggressive strategy by starting on the hard tyres and going deep into the race to overcut the rivals. He kept on clocking competitive race pace while the others around him dove into the pits. At one point Jehan was leading the race. He pitted on lap 24, changed to medium sets of tyres and found his way to P10.

Jehan suffered a contact in Sprint Race 2 and came dead last

Meanwhile, Sprint Race 1 was won by Robert Shwartzman driving for Prema Racing. The Russian got a good holeshot starting from fourth, took the lead out of Turn 1 and never looked back. There were four safety cars during this session. Guanyu Zhou spun out on lap one and lost positions in the race and also the lead of the championship table.

Sprint Race 2 was won by Richard Verschoor of MP Motorsport. Verschoor got the pole position of the race by finishing 10th in the previous race. The reverse grid aspect of Formula 2 made him sit at pole for the second sprint race. Guanyu Zhou lost further grounds in the title fight after finishing P11. This puts Oscar Piastri at the top of the table with 89 points.

The Indian driver might strike back at the Italian GP

The Feature Race was won by Guanyu Zhou with Tictum in P2 followed by Piastri and Verschoor taking P3 and P4. Next race is the Italian GP at Monza on September 10.
