Mahindra Racing has confirmed British racer Alex Lynn – who was the 2014 GP3 Series Champion as well as a Macau Grand Prix and Sebring 12 Hours winner – will pilot the #94 M6Electro, which was so far being helmed by German racer Pascal Wehrlein, for the remainder of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship alongside Jerome D’Ambrosio in the #64 racecar.

Lynn, 26, began his single-seater career in Formula Renault UK, dominating the 2011 championship with a record 12 wins from 20 race starts. He was subsequently named British Club Driver of the Year at the 2011 Autosport Awards. Moving up to British F3 the next year, he finished fourth before progressing to the prestigious FIA European F3 Championship in 2013, claiming the third spot as the highest placed rookie, and ending the season with a dominant victory in the coveted Macau F3 Grand Prix. In 2014, Alex wrapped up the GP3 title with a record points margin, also becoming the first Englishman to claim this title.

Along with being the development driver for the Williams Martini Racing in 2016, Alex also competed in GP2 Series for the championship-winning DAMS racing team for a second year. At the end of 2017, he joined DS Virgin Racing as a driver in the FIA Formula E Championship, and also became an Aston Martin Racing factory driver in their World Endurance Championship programme. He simultaneously continued his Formula E innings with Jaguar Racing for part of the 2018/19 season along with the WEC. Till date, he has competed in a total of 21 races, with his best result coming at the 2018 Punta del Este (Uruguay) ePrix where he finished sixth.

Responding to his appointment with the Mahindra Racing team, Alex Lynn said, “I am really excited to be able to represent Mahindra Racing in Berlin. I have high ambitions in this championship that match what Mahindra Racing wants to achieve. I just can’t wait to get started. I’ve raced twice in Berlin before and always felt that I went well there, including appearing in Super Pole last season. The format of Berlin is going to be exciting and challenging at the same time and I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running.”

Speaking on the announcement and Lynn’s inclusion in the team, Dilbagh Gill, team principal, Mahindra Racing , said, “We’re delighted to welcome Alex to the Mahindra Racing family. He has achieved some fantastic highlights in his career already and we’re confident that together we can get results in the remainder of Season 6. It’s not easy to jump in mid-season, especially with the unique way we will be running the races in Berlin, but Alex has a hunger, talent and experience that we are sure will pay dividends fast. We would like to thank Pascal for his contribution and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
