Nico Rosberg will take the Gen2 car for a spin on the track

While Indian Formula E fans will be glued to the performance of Mahindra Racing, they will also be treated to the sight of the Gen2 Formula E car that will be used for season five piloted by 2016 Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg. This is the fourth time that the Formula E championship is returning to Berlin. The race will take place at Tempelhof airport. The venue is also the place where Mahindra Racing, the lone Indian team in the all-electric series, got its maiden win in 2017.

Currently, Mahindra Racing is in fourth position in the overall standings with 107 points. In the driver standings, Felix Rosenqvist is in third place with 86 points overall. Teammate Nick Heidfeld stands at 13th position with 21 points overall as he failed to score any points in the last two races. In the previous race in Paris, Felix Rosenqvist finished eighth while teammate Nick Heidfeld took the eleventh position.

Mahindra Racing CEO Dilbagh Gill on returning to Berlin e-prix

On the eve of the Berlin e-prix, Mahindra Racing team principal and CEO Dilbagh Gill said, “Tempelhof and Berlin will always bring back great memories for me and the emotion of Mahindra Racing’s first win will be something that will be permanently etched on my mind. The last race in Paris was a reminder that we are only as good as our last race. Much work has gone in to understanding what went wrong in Paris and with that knowledge we have prepared diligently for the Berlin race. The FIA have tweaked the circuit again so we will be challenged on every aspect of our delivery and this is why we love Formula E. Nick gets to race in front of his home crowd and it would make me truly happy to see Nick on the podium again and Felix knows that a mistake free weekend will see him challenging for a win. So all to play for and an exciting weekend lies in store for us.”

The only significant change in the technical aspect of the season four car is the bump up in power from 170kW to 180kW. Mahindra says that their race car for season four, the M4Electro has lost some amount of weight, a major contribution coming from the departure of the multi speed transmission. With only three more rounds to go after the ninth round in Berlin, it will be an exciting race tomorrow and we will have our fingers crossed for Mahindra Racing to repeat their historic win from last year and move ahead in the points table.
