After a victory at the Sprint Race 2 in Monza the day before, Jehan Daruvala finished P5 in the Feature Race and added 10 points to his championship belt. Daruvala had a rough start from P2, lost a few positions and came home fifth in a race filled with action and multiple safety car periods. At the end of the weekend at Monza, Daruvala has 81 points in the Formula 2 driver’s championship ahead of Sochi, Russia.

Daruvala had a bad start and it was suspected that his tyres were not up to the optimum temperature and consequently, he lost places in the opening lap. But the race was soon brought under the first safety car period with Guilherme Samaia’s crash. Daruvala lost a position to Felipe Drugovich on the restart but eventually managed to take the position back from the Brazilian.

Lap 8 saw yet another safety car period and this time, the leading pack, including Daruvala, dived into the pits to complete their mandatory pit stop. Daruvala managed to gain a position on Liam Lawson during the pitstop. At the restart, Guanyu Zhou got the better start amongst the leading pack and after some wheel to wheel battling with Daruvala, squeezed the Indian driver out of P2.

Towards the end of the race, Daruvala started losing pace and came under attack from Théo Pourchaire and lost yet another position, coming down to P4. Finally, he had to concede a position to Dan Ticktum and ended up coming past the finish line in P5. Daruvala went home with 10 points added to his championship total.
