First Formula E podium finish for Alex Lynn in Valencia

Piloting his M7Electro with ZF powertrain, Lynn finished third overall for Mahindra Racing with the fastest recorded lap on Sunday

It was an action-packed Sunday at the Valencia E-prix with Alex Lynn taking his first podium finish for Mahindra Racing in the M7Electro. Starting from the front row after his second consecutive Super Pole in the qualifiers, Lynn made a super comeback from Lap 17, and finished third in Round 6.

Lynn was at P3 in Round 6 this season

At the Valencia E-Prix, it was the first time Formula E conducted a race on a permanent race track. The Round 6 started with BMW’s Jake Dennis at first position in the grid, followed by Mahindra Racing team’s Alex Lynn in second who was then followed by Nio 333 FE team’s Tom Blomqvist at third. From the start of the race, Lynn followed BMW’s Dennis for several laps until Venturi Racing team’s Norman Nato pushed him into gravel, and he climbed down to ninth place on the charts. But soon after this incident Nato was granted a five second penalty and Lynn after a successful struggle climbed up the leaderboard and managed to finish at P3 with an additional point for setting the fastest lap time of 01:30 minutes in the race. While his another teammate from Mahindra Racing — Alexander Sims who started off at the eleventh place in the grid, was at twenty third position at the end of the race and was also granted a drive through penalty for technical infraction.

After Round 6 Alexander Sims is at thirteenth position while Lynn is at fifteenth

The final standings at the end of the Round 6 had BMW’s Jake Dennis won from Tag Heuer Porsche Formula E team’s Andre Lotterer by 1 minute, 48 seconds and at P3 was Alex Lynn. As for now, with the results of Round 6, Mahindra Racing team’s drivers Alexander Sims, stands at 13th position overall with 24 points while Alex Lynn is at 15th position overall with 21 points. And with the Mahindra Racing team taking its second podium finish this season, it is now eighth in overall standings with a total of 45 points. The Round 7 of the ABB FIA Formula E will be taking place on May 8 in Monaco.
