The Yamaha YZF-R15S V3 has been launched at a price tag of Rs 1.57 lakh, making it a more affordable option for people looking to buy a fully-faired performance motorcycle. Yamaha has launched the R15S V3 with its unibody seat for those who would like a more comfortable version of the R15. The R15S V3 will be sold alongside the latest generation R15 V4.
The main differentiator here is that the R15S V3 now gets a unibody seat to add comfort for the rider and pillion, and also enhance its usability as a daily commuter.
In terms of mechanicals, the R15S V3 remains unchanged, which means it shares the same 155cc liquid-cooled four-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation putting out 18.3bhp at 10000rpm and 14.1Nm of torque at 8500rpm. The Deltabox frame, the aluminium swingarm, and the six-speed transmission have also been carried over as is. In terms of equipment, the R15S V3 receives a multi-information LCD instrument cluster, a gearshift indicator, dual-channel ABS, slip-and-assist clutch, side-stand engine cutoff function, and a radial tubeless rear tyre.
Mr. Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said, “The YZF-R15 in its Version 3.0 was a huge success as it proved to be the most exhilarating model in the 150cc supersport segment with advanced technology and features. While the YZF-R15 V4 is being highly appreciated by customers across India, our research has shown that customers are also looking for a more viable option to commute with a pillion, without having to compromise on the Racing DNA of the R15. At Yamaha we are always listening to what our customers’ demand and make every possible attempt to meet those demands. Hence, the R15S V3 with a Unibody Seat was evident.”
The Yamaha YZF-R15SV3 is being offered in just a single variant with the Racing Blue colour, and is priced at Rs 1.57 lakh. The R15S V3 does not have any direct rivals, with the KTM RC125 having received its first major upgrade, pushing it more into the R15 V4 category.
