It has been six months since Volvo’s flagship electric SUV, the EX90 was revealed, and before its market launch, the Swedish luxury carmaker has already teased another electric SUV named EX30. However, this time it is a compact electric SUV, targeted at Gen Z consumers. The EX30 will likely be slotted below the C40 Recharge and the XC40 Recharge as an entry-level EV and will debut on June 7, 2023.
The teaser video showcases some parts of the forthcoming EX30, including the LED taillights similar to the EX90 SUV. If you watch the teaser video closely, you will also find the LED lightbar adjoining the headlights, along with a camera positioned right below the outside rearview mirrors. Volvo also provided a sneak peek at the cabin, but only the vegan leather seats are highlighted with a tiny Swedish flag. Also, a portion of the heavily creased bonnet side and the striped DRLs were showcased in the teaser video.
There is no official confirmation of the EX30’s powertrain options and battery capacities. We expect Volvo to launch the EX30 in India, considering its compact footprint. It will cost much lower than the current XC40 Recharge in the country. Once launched, the Volvo EX30 will compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, as it is expected to be priced around the same ballpark.
