Tata Motors is continuously working on improving its electric SUV, the Nexon EV, and the Indian car maker has now given it another update. The Nexon EV Prime has been launched at Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, and is essentially a rebranded standard Nexon EV which receives some new equipment from its pricier cousin, the Nexon EV Max.
What’s ‘prime’ about the Nexon EV Prime?
The Nexon EV Prime retains the same design with blue inserts to emphasise its green intentions. However, it misses out on the Intensi-Teal paint scheme of the Nexon EV Max, instead receiving the same Signature Teal Blue paint scheme from before, along with Glacier White and Daytona Grey.
The Nexon EV Prime is backed by the same 30.2kWh battery pack which, Tata claims, gives the Nexon EV Prime a claimed range of 312km on a single charge. In terms of output figures, the Nexon EV Prime puts out 127bhp and 245Nm of torque, and Tata Motors claims it can reach triple digits in 9.9 seconds.
The Nexon EV Prime makes a real difference in terms of the equipment list as it shares a lot of kit with the Nexon EV Max, such as multi-mode regen with upto four levels of regenerative braking, along with automatic tail lamps, cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, smartwatch connectivity and remote functions among others.
Additionally, Tata Motors has announced it will be rolling out free software upgrades from July 25 onwards for existing Nexon EV customers from its authorised service centres so that they do not miss out on new equipment. The car maker also plans to bring forward an educative programme for customers who wish to avail of new equipment via the software upgrade, which will then be offered on a paid basis.
Here are the prices for all the variants of the Nexon EV Prime:
XM: Rs 14.99 lakh
XZ+: Rs 16.30 lakh
Dark XZ+: Rs 16.49 lakh
XZ+ Lux: Rs 17.30 lakh
Dark XZ+ Lux: Rs 17.50 lakh
The Prime treatment has certainly made the Nexon EV a more desirable package. However, the top-end variant of the Nexon EV Prime costs Rs 84,000 lesser than the base Nexon EV Max. Would you pick the Nexon EV Prime? Let us know!
