Skoda Rapid Matte Limited Edition launched at Rs 11.99 lakh

Skoda Auto India has added a new member to the Skoda Rapid’s variant line-up: a Matte Limited Edition which gets a matte paint finish and darker interiors. The Matte Limited Edition now sits at the top of the Rapid range and comes in two transmission options — a manual which is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh and an automatic priced at Rs 13.49 lakh.

While the main components and features remain the same as the Monte Carlo variant, the new limited edition comes in an exclusive carbon steel matte paint scheme combined with a glossy black front grille and a front lip in the same carbon steel matte colour. It also gets a glossy black finish for the door handles, and side moulding. The rear gets a similar glossy black finish for the diffuser, tailgate garnish and trunk lip. If these details didn’t stand out enough, then the all-black 16-inch alloy wheels should.

There are a few changes on the inside as well, with dual-tone Tellur Grey interiors, black leatherette upholstery with Alcantara inserts which add to the stealthy theme. High visibility performance bulbs are also a new addition to the car, aside from the features that are already seen on the Monte Carlo like the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display, automatic climate control, rear-view camera, USB air purifier, dual airbags, ABS and more.

The Matte edition gets the same powertrain as the standard Rapid — a 1-litre TSI three-cylinder turbo-petrol that produces 108.5bhp and 175Nm of torque. It is available with either an six-speed manual or an six-speed torque converter automatic.

At Rs 11.99 lakh, the new Matte Limited Edition Rapid is priced identical to the Monte Carlo variant. However, when it comes to the automatic, the Matte Limited Edition is priced Rs 20,000 over the Monte Carlo AT. As compared to the Style variant, the Matte Limited Edition commands a premium of Rs 30,000 over the Style MT while the Matte Limited Edition automatic is Rs 50,000 more expensive than the Style AT.
