The new MG One SUV by MG Motors has been revealed globally after a lot of teases. At the moment, we have a clear idea of its styling, although there are no details on the powertrain. The One showcases the future design language and technology direction for the brand.
MG has designed a brand new architecture called Sigma which is a modular platform that can support a variety of powertrains including pure internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains as well as all-electric powertrains. The new architecture is also said to be highly adaptable for various body styles like hatchbacks, SUVs, off-roaders, sports cars and more.
It is said that the new architecture develops the interior space efficiency of up to 70 per cent by compressing the mechanical space of the vehicle to the minimum. Another aspect of the platform is that it will be highly digitised
Despite not indulging in presenting a lot of specifics regarding the features, powertrains and more. MG Motors has released teaser images of the MG One that displays a very sporty looking SUV with edgy LED headlights and a big three-dimensional front grille. On the design front, the MG One features muscular and aggressive styling with lines running across the frame of the SUV. The silver roof rails slope down at the rear. The LED taillights on the MG One are sleek and accentuate the 3D effect on the rear as well.
With the One, MG is showcasing what we can expect in terms of tech, features and architecture, from the cars rolling off their production floor.
