Morris Garages (MG) Motor India in partnership with Fortum Charge & Drive India have unveiled the first 50 kW DC charging station at MG’s flagship dealership in Gurugram. The launch of the ZS EV is scheduled to take place in December 2019. As a part of the tie-up with Fortum, MG has installed four 50 kW DC fast charging public stations in Delhi NCR, located in South Delhi, West Delhi, Noida and Gurugram. The Finland based company has announced that the station is now operational for public use, an announcement which comes ahead of the launch of MG’s second model introduction, and its first electric model launch in India – the MG ZS EV.
“With an aim to be the leader in the EV segment in India, we are pulling out all the stops to ensure adequate charging infrastructure for our first EV customers. Our endeavour is to create a robust ecosystem for EVs, right from charging to end-of-life for electric vehicles in India and the installation of the first public fast charger is the first major step in this direction. The upcoming launch of the MG ZS EV is aligned with the government’s long-term objective to have more electric vehicles on the road in the next few years,” said Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India.
This move by MG Motors is aimed at catalysing and accelerating the Inda’s EV transformation along with creating a sustainability model for the EV eco-system in India. These fast chargers will also be placed at the MG showrooms and workshops across their dealer network.
MG Motor has also just recently launched #ChangeWhatYouCan, a global campaign featuring Benedict Cumberbatch that raises awareness about the critical need to shift towards green mobility.
