Maruti Suzuki India limited has stepped forward in providing support to the nation during the ongoing lockdown by using its considerable resources.

The carmaker has started using its in-house canteens for preparing hygienic meals for the villages around its Gurugram and Manesar plants. In the past three weeks, the company has already provided 120,000 meals, 10,000 dry ration kits in association with Indian Red Cross society and also has opened up a total of 17 water ATMs near the Aliyar and Dhana villages at Manesar. Interestingly, in a region with hard water, the ATMs also show the water quality in terms of Total dissolved Solids (TDS). In order to maintain a hygienic environment, it has also established a waste-management system with 16 waste collection vans for proper sanitization of villages.

A number of automakers across the country have stepped up to the challenges that the pandemic has brought to the country and have kickstarted initiatives to support the local population.
