Mahindra launches cheaper diesel AMT variant of XUV300
Mahindra has introduced an AMT option in the W6 diesel variant of the XUV 300. The car will cost Rs 50,000 more than the W6 manual trim level coming in at Rs 9.99 lakhs ex-showroom. Before this the automatic gearbox was only available in top-spec W8 and W8(O) trim which are priced at Rs 11.49 lakhs and Rs 12.69 lakhs respectively. The addition of the new trim makes the automatic more accessible.
The W6 variant gets a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display with in built GPS, follow-me-home lights, dual airbags, while the W6 automatic adds Electronic Stability Control and Hill Descent Control. The W6 misses out on alloy wheels, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, dual zone climate control, keyless entry, push button start/stop, Android Auto / Apple Carplay and rear parking sensors among other features that the W8 has. The W8(O) additionally gets 7 Airbags, front parking sensors, heated ORVMs and diamond-cut alloys.
The XUV300 W6 AMT is only offered on the diesel which is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine making 114bhp and 300 Nm of torque, mechanically identical to the manual XUV300, making it the most powerful engine in the segment. The petrol is only offered in the six speed manual configuration for now.
The XUV300 W6 AMT goes up against the Vitara Brezza VDI AMT which is priced at Rs 8.69 lakhs, Venue 1.0 Turbo GDI DCT S which is priced at Rs 9.35 lakhs, the Nexon XMA AMT is priced at Rs 9.04 lakhs, the EcoSport is not offered in an automatic that is price competitive to these mid-spec diesel automatic variants.
