Updates
The new RX450hL gets a 3.5-Litre V6 that is now compliant with BS6 norms and also gets electric assistance. The car has grown in length by about 5-inches to accommodate that extra row of seats, helped by some clever packaging by the Lexus engineers.
The RX450hL has also got updates in terms of its driving dynamics. The car gets reworked suspension, with a new Friction Control Device (FCD) that reduces vibrations at high speed, and a more rigid body structure to improve handling and driving feel. The new RX features Active Cornering Assist (ACA) helping drivers corner with a linear steering feel and keeping the car in check in varying driving conditions. The reworked shock absorbers, Lexus claims, also enable the RX to corner better and aids responsiveness. The RX features a new touch-display screen which now features Android Auto and Apple Carplay and built in voice control.
The exterior design of the car is more of an evolution of the previous generation than a revolution, with similar L-shaped LED lamps and sweeping turn indicators taking care of the lighting and the large Lexus spindle grille taking center stage in the front. The new RX450hL also maintains a similar swooping window line to the previous generation. Put it like this, If you liked how the last one looked, you will like this.
P B Venugopal, President, Lexus India, said “RX 450hL is a self-charging hybrid electric vehicle that offers luxury, space, quietness, craftsmanship and elevates the senses with every moment of the journey. The improved technology, design and attractive pricing will surely make RX 450hL a desirable car for our discerning guests. We take the introduction of the new RX as our continued commitment to the Indian market and a valued addition to our existing line of offerings.”
The new model is priced at Rs 99 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) and will be available from this month.
