Lamborghini is not new to making special edition unicorn cars, the Reventon is a brilliant example, as is the one-of-one Aventador J and the Veneno. It isn't strangers to making track-only customer cars either, the Sesto Elemento was one. This upcoming car however, seems to be the maddest one yet. We got the first inkling of the car at the finals of the Super Trofeo cup, where the company announced a track only hypercar was in the pipelines.

Not much has been revealed about the car, but it will be loud judging by the video, thanks to an 819bhp 6.5-litre V12 engine under the bonnet. It is the same unit as the one in the Aventador and all its iterations, however power has been bumped up. Expect tweaked internals to cope with the stress of hours of fast laps. The gearbox will be a six-speed sequential Xtrac system which will also be a load bearing structure. Braking will be handled by a set of Brembo brakes and a set of sticky Pirelli rubber will keep this track focused machine glued to the ground.

The silhouette of the upcoming hypercar shows a design that is quintessentially Lamborghini — angular, aggressive and aerodynamic with a touch of madness added to it. There are vents in all kinds of places, veins to help improve airflow, a roof scoop and a huge rear wing. All this is not for show though, considering the Aventador SVJ is the fastest production car on the Nurburgring, expect this to be a bloody fast track weapon.

The Squadra Corse developed hypercar is likely to be revealed later this year and will be released in limited numbers. There is no news of a special race series where it will compete so it is likely to be a track day car for Lamborghini’s wealthiest customers.

He likes to find weird quirks about cars and dedicates a fairly large space in his head to random car facts and an equally large space in his heart for cars with cool specs. He came across this career path by chance, and going by how excited he gets as soon as new metal rolls into the office, he seems to be loving everyday of his journey as an automotive journalist.
