The Hero Xpulse is a favourite among Indian motorcyclists owing to its reliable nature, easy rideability, low maintenance costs and a very approachable asking price. The Xpulse 200 4V bettered this formula, and we liked it so much, we’ve been waiting for one to join the evo Fleet (take the hint Hero!)

Hero MotoCorp is now stepping things up with the Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition which has been launched at a price of Rs 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom), complete with a factory-fitted rally kit and changes to further enhance its abilities off the road. The Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition is being offered as a limited edition, and will be available only between July 22 to July 29.

What’s different on the Hero Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition?

The Hero Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition benefits from fully-adjustable suspension on both ends with a higher amount of travel — 250mm at the front and 220mm at the rear, which is 60mm and 50mm more than the travel amount on both ends of the standard Xpulse 200 4V. While it retains the same 21-inch and 18-inch wheel setup at the front and rear, the ground clearance has gone up by 50mm, now measuring at 270mm. At 1426mm, the wheelbase is 16mm longer, and you will also sit higher thanks to the 885mm seat height, which is 60mm more than on the standard 200 4V. The 270mm ground clearance should also add extra confidence in clearing obstacles off-road, given that it is 50mm more than that of the standard Xpulse. With the increased height and ground clearance, the Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition also gets a longer side stand, along with a longer gear lever. Thankfully, all these changes have resulted in just a 2kg weight gain at 160kg, signifying that the Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition should retain the nimbleness and agility of the standard Xpulse.

Design-wise, the Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition remains identical to the standard Xpulse, except for the increased height and a paint scheme inspired by the Hero MotoSports rally motorcycle. It also features CS Santosh’s autograph on the fuel tank.

The Hero Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition also retains the same 199.6cc liquid-cooled powertrain that produces 18.9bhp at 8500rpm and 17.35Nm of torque at 6500rpm, and is paired to a five-speed transmission. In terms of the equipment, the Xpulse Rally retains the digital LCD instrument cluster, and along with it come turn-by-turn navigation, smartphone connectivity, gear position indicator, single-channel ABS, 40mm handlebar risers, eco mode, and two trip meters.

Given the Rally Kit with all of this extra equipment costs Rs 46,000 by itself, the Xpulse 200 4V Rally Edition should make more sense, as it comes with a factory-fitted rally kit and you will only have to pay a premium of Rs 13,000 over the standard Xpulse 4V. However, you only have a limited amount of time to book yours at Hero’s eShop portal, as bookings commence from July 22 and will remain open till July 29.
