Just months after its international unveil, Harley-Davidson has launched the Nightster in India, with prices starting from Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nightster is part of Harley-Davidson’s Sportster lineup and provides an overall new entry point into the motorcycle manufacturer’s lineup.

Harley-Davidson Nightster Design

We’ve spoken about the design of the Nightster in detail before, and it retains the Harley-Davidson DNA while keeping the future in mind. The peanut-shaped fuel tank is actually a steel cover for the airbox, whereas the real fuel tank is hidden under the seat, with a capacity of 11.7 litres. Harley-Davidson says this lowers the motorcycle’s centre of gravity and improves handling. The Nightster is being offered with three different paint schemes on offer, such as red, black, and grey.

Harley-Davidson Nightster Powertrain and Chassis

Powering the Nightster is a downsized version of the Revolution Max powertrain — a 975cc unit which puts out 88.5bhp at 7500rpm and 95Nm of torque at 5000rpm, paired to a six-speed transmission. The engine acts as a stressed member of the steel trellis frame, which hangs off of 41mm Showa dual-bending valve forks with aluminium fork triple clamps at the front, and twin coil-spring shock absorbers at the rear with pre-load adjustability.

In terms of the braking setup, the Nightster gets a single 320mm disc at the front with axially-mounted four-pot callipers and a 260mm floating disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear.

Harley-Davidson Nightster Features on offer

The Nightster comes with three ride modes (Road, Sport, Rain), along with ABS and traction control. There’s also a 4-inch semi-digital instrument cluster with an LCD display, but there are no connected features available on the Nightster.

Harley-Davidson Nightster Price and Rivals

The Harley-Davidson Nightster does not have any direct rivals, but it is priced quite closely to the Triumph Bonneville Bobber and the Indian Scout Bobber. Prices for the Nightster begin from Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and range up to Rs 15.13 lakh (ex-showroom).
