2020 John Cooper Works GP will be the fastest Mini yet
Mini’s John Cooper Works line of cars get a host of upgrades ranging from aero packages to tuned handling and serious firepower. The 2020 John Cooper Works GP is dubbed 'the fastest Mini ever' and will be able to lap the Nurburgring in under eight minutes! For perspective, the 996 Porsche 911 GT3 did it in 8:03. Thanks to all these upgrades, it will also have the most expensive starting price ever for a Mini.
The JCW GP will be powered by a 2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine making an astonishing 302bhp! In a Mini! The exterior gets a substantial body kit with aerodynamic panels on the front and rear fenders to guide the air flow, there is also a massive spoiler at the rear to push the car into the ground when you’re going fast. The JCW GP will be handbuilt at the company’s facility in the UK.
The JCW upgrades don’t end there, the chassis and suspension setup are bespoke for this car and will make the Mini feel like a very fast go-kart. Although the car has been spotted testing at the ‘Ring multiple times but it will be showcased without the camouflage at the LA Auto Show, happening from November 22 to December 2.
The standard Mini John Cooper Works costs Rs 43.5 lakh in India so, if it ever does come here, expect the John Cooper Works GP to be priced at a Rs 10-12 lakh premium over that. If you’re on your way to the airport to go and grab a John Cooper Works GP for yourself then note that the production is limited to 3000 units, so take the earliest flight.
